Peat-reduced and peat-free substrates with reduced CO2 emissions

In view of the shortage of peat and the increasing international demand for growing media, the ADVANCED Substrate range continues to set standards for peat-reduced and peat-free substrates. The recipes combine renewable raw materials such as GreenFibre® wood fibres, TerrAktiv® green compost and coco fibres with proven horticultural performance.

TerraCoal® - Innovative biochar for professional substrates

TerraCoal® is a new biochar which acts as a long-term carbon sink in substrates, offsets emissions and helps to achieve climate-neutral horticulture.

TerraCoal® is manufactured using an innovative pyrolysis process that permanently stores atmospheric greenhouse gases, making it an effective CO₂ sink. In future growing media can be supplemented with TerraCoal® biochar to counterbalance the emissions of other components and enable a substrate with a net-zero carbon footprint. The associated CO₂ certificate helps growers consider it in their corporate carbon footprint (CCF) and creates a strong selling point for the horticultural supply chain.
