Growcoon Propagation System

Sphaxx® is grown under controlled conditions. It retains all benefits of natural sphagnum but with superior purity and quality. The innovative production concept of Sphaxx® ensures a more reliable, sustainable, and predictable alternative to traditional sphagnum harvesting. From this very pure raw material, we manufacture perfect growing solutions. Such as our Sphaxx® plates for orchids and bromeliads. Sphaxx® is another pioneering idea by Klasmann-Deilmann.

Sphaxx® for cultivation of orchids and bromeliads

Klasmann-Deilmann is a leading substrate manufacturer with numerous sales and production subsidiaries on five continents. Our product portfolio includes growing media for commercial horticulture. We harvest white and black peat from our own and external resources and produce wood fibres, green compost, bark, cocos and perlite at our own facilities. We also provide the Growcoon propagation system, sustainable Sphaxx Sphagnum Moss, TerraCoal biochar to compensate CO2 from the substrate.

Sphaxx: Premium raw material meets sustainable innovation.
With Sphaxx, Klasmann-Deilmann presents a pioneering growing solution that meets the criteria of sustainability, supports optimum plant growth and is characterised by easy handling. Sphaxx is produced in an innovative manufacturing process from very pure sphagnum, which comes from controlled cultivation and is not taken from peat bogs. In terms of plant cultivation, this new raw material has excellent air and water retention properties and a low pH value. The fully controlled, sustainable production ensures consistently high quality, reliable purity and increasing availability. Sphaxx will initially focus on the cultivation of orchids, with other product solutions in the pipeline.

ADVANCED Substrates: Highest quality with renewable raw materials. 
The ADVANCED Substrate line, which consists of up to 100% alternative raw materials. This allows substrate emissions to be reduced by up to 80% while maintaining the same high quality. In addition to increased sustainability, these substrates offer reliable water retention capacity, optimized air permeability and excellent root development. The focus is particularly on substrates for ornamental plant production and the cultivation of soft fruit, where a high level of crop and plant safety is required. “Our ADVANCED products are based on renewable raw materials such as wood fibres, green compost, quality bark and cocos, which, in combination with peat, form the basis for crop-safe, modern substrate mixtures,” says Moritz Böcking.

Growbag ADVANCED: Sustainability and delivery reliability rethought. 
For the cultivation of vegetables and strawberries Klasmann-Deilmann has developed the ADVANCED Growbag which is characterized by greater sustainability and performance. The Growbag contains an innovative mixture of wood fibres and cocos, which offers a high water and nutrient holding capacity. “With the Growbag, we offer a solution that is not only ecologically sound, but also ensures high yield security for vegetables and strawberries. We are delighted with the positive market response and the strong sales.”
Growcoon: The sustainable solution for plant propagation
The Growcoon has established itself as a successful system for propagating plants in trays. Klasmann-Deilmann will be showcasing the Growcoon propagation system as an efficient and sustainable solution for young plant production and hydroponic cultivation. The fully biodegradable material of the Growcoon forms a stable root ball in combination with loosely filled, high-quality growing media from Klasmann-Deilmann. Young plants can thus be transplanted earlier and the development of healthy, strong roots is significantly promoted.

TerraCoal® is a new biochar which acts as a long-term carbon sink in substrates, offsets emissions and helps to achieve climate-neutral horticulture.

TerraCoal - Innovative biochar for substrates

TerraCoal® is manufactured using an innovative pyrolysis process that permanently stores atmospheric greenhouse gases, making it an effective CO₂ sink. In future growing media can be supplemented with TerraCoal® biochar to counterbalance the emissions of other components and enable a substrate with a net-zero carbon footprint. The associated CO₂ certificate helps growers consider it in their corporate carbon footprint (CCF) and creates a strong selling point for the horticultural supply chain.
