In a world that is constantly changing, the horticultural industry and its growers face ever-increasing challenges. The growing world population, climate change, and changing labor regulations require innovative solutions to ensure sustainable food production. We all understand these challenges too well.
Over 15 years ago, the semi-closed greenhouse was introduced by KUBO, Ultra-Clima, pioneering the horticulture sector with this concept. This concept was born from a biological perspective, originally aimed at enabling pesticide-free cultivation by keeping insects out of the greenhouse. But it quickly became apparent that Ultra-Clima offers much more than just that.
In a time when climate change is becoming an increasingly urgent issue, Ultra-Clima could be an answer to how food production can be ensured under increasingly extreme conditions. With Ultra-Clima, growers worldwide, regardless of local climate, can achieve an optimal climate for their crops 24/7 and 12 months a year. The plant is provided with the ideal climate, allowing it to become as robust as possible. As a result, it is less susceptible to diseases, and cultivation can grow faster than with other cultivation concepts, leading to higher production.
The concept also contributes to increasing labor efficiency and reducing the use of natural resources, resulting in a more sustainable and environmentally friendly cultivation.
With this Ultra-Clima KUBO is determined to shape the transition in the horticulture sector and have a positive impact on global food supply. With this concept they aim to support growers worldwide (now over 700 hectares) in realizing their full potential and contribute to a healthier and more sustainable future for everyone.
KUBO says: “Everything is geared towards 'Making growing easier, more sustainable, and more efficient'.” Improvements and new innovations for the coming years are currently being worked on extensively.
